Become a trustee

We are looking for passionate, skilled individuals to join our board of trustees. These are unpaid roles but vital to the development and effectiveness of The Meadows.

The type of person we’re looking for

Preferably, a trustee at The Meadows will have:

  • Passion and interest in the local community.
  • Strong links to North Tyneside.
  • Ability to think strategically to support the governance and future development of
    The Meadows.
  • Senior business experience. However, we are open to receiving applications from
    a wide range of backgrounds.

We’re also particularly keen to hear from people with a health, legal, or marketing background.

The commitment required

The minimum commitment for a trustee is to attend most board meetings throughout a calendar year. It’s expected that you will have read the agenda and come ready to ask questions. Here are some other important points to remember about what’s required of a trustee:

  • Board meetings take place every 6-7 weeks. There are usually around 10 per year.
  • Meetings often take place on a Tuesday at 6pm. They may be in person or via Zoom.
  • If you join the Finance Committee, you will attend quarterly meetings. This is in addition to the main board meetings.
  • There may be other meetings around team building, training, or strategic development.
